The Future

One of the questions that we face is whether we should be looking at trying to buy land. Archbishop Sergios has raised questions about how sustainable it will be to keep renting property in the longer term. Moreover, renting limits what one is able to do with the property and makes one hesitant to invest much in it.

The property that we are renting, together with the outbuildings that the farmer is still using, could lend themselves to being transformed into something interesting, but they are not for sale although something may develop in the future.

There are also a few plots of land available for sale in the vicinity. One of these is on the hill behind the Church and Father Zacharias would very much like us to get it in order to prevent someone buying it and building a casino or something there. It has a wonderful view and could be ideal for a house of prayer.

It seems to me, based on discussions with both the Archbishop and with Father Zacharias, and with other people who are concerned with the project, that Life-Giving Spring needs to develop organically and that we need to be open to where the Holy Spirit leads us. At the same time, it does seem likely that we may be looking at trying to buy property at some point in the not-too-distant future and that we should be thinking of fund-raising to that end.
